2. Our approach to privacy

Make Play is designed so that Taglab does not need to collect information about its users.

Make Play does not require a Make Play account and we do not operate user profiles, advertising systems, behavioural analytics or telemetry for the software.

We do not track what you listen to. We do not maintain a central database of your playback history. We do not sell personal data.

3. How Make Play works

Make Play consists of a server and a remote-control client.

The Make Play server currently runs on macOS and communicates directly with supported music services such as Apple Music and TIDAL.

The TUI client communicates with the Make Play server in order to control playback. The TUI client does not itself download or stream music.

Communications between your Make Play client, your Make Play server and the selected music service are necessary for the functionality you request. This does not result in Taglab receiving a copy of your listening activity unless a particular feature expressly states otherwise.

4. Apple Music and TIDAL

When you use Make Play with Apple Music or TIDAL, those services may process information about you in accordance with their own privacy policies.

This can include information necessary for:

• ·authentication;
• ·determining whether you have access to the service;
• ·accessing your music library or other account-specific information where you authorize this;
• ·searching their music catalogue; and
• ·playing music and recording activity associated with your account.

This processing is performed by or through the relevant music-service provider.

Taglab does not operate Apple Music or TIDAL and does not control the data those companies collect as part of their own services. You should consult the applicable Apple or TIDAL privacy policy for information about their processing of personal data.

5. Authentication information

Make Play may need to maintain authorization information locally on your computer so that it can communicate with a music service you have connected.

Depending on the service and integration method, this may include authorization tokens or similar technical credentials.

Such information is used solely to provide the requested integration and is not intended to be transmitted to or stored by Taglab.

You can revoke access using the facilities provided by the applicable music service or by removing the relevant Make Play configuration.

6. Local data

Make Play may store information locally on the computer on which it runs where necessary for ordinary software functionality. This may include, depending on the version and configuration:

• ·application configuration;
• ·preferences;
• ·authentication or authorization state;
• ·temporary cache data;
• ·current playback or session state; and
• ·diagnostic information generated locally by the application.

Local information is not automatically uploaded to Taglab.

Removing Make Play and its associated local configuration files will ordinarily remove data stored by Make Play on that computer, except where operating-system facilities or third-party services maintain their own data.

7. Client-server communication

The Make Play TUI client communicates with the Make Play server.

Taglab does not operate an intermediary service through which those commands must pass.

Where you configure Make Play for communication over a network, network information such as IP addresses will necessarily be used by the computers and network infrastructure involved in establishing that connection. Taglab does not collect that information merely because you use Make Play.

You are responsible for configuring access to your Make Play server appropriately for your network environment.

8. Analytics, tracking and advertising

Make Play does not contain Taglab-operated:

• ·behavioural analytics;
• ·advertising;
• ·advertising identifiers;
• ·cross-service tracking;
• ·user profiling; or
• ·listening-history telemetry.

If this changes in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated before such processing is introduced where required by law.

9. Information you send to us

If you contact Taglab directly, for example by email, GitHub, an issue tracker or another support channel, we will receive the information you choose to provide.

This can include your name or username, email address, technical information and the contents of your message.

We use such information only as reasonably necessary to respond to the communication, manage the Make Play project, investigate technical issues, establish or defend legal claims, or comply with legal obligations.

Where applicable, the legal basis for this processing under the GDPR is our legitimate interest in communicating with users and maintaining the project, steps taken at your request, or compliance with a legal obligation.

We retain such correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes.

10. Patreon and voluntary donations

Taglab may use Patreon or another third-party service to accept voluntary support for the Make Play project.

If you choose to use such a service, the provider may collect information about you under its own privacy policy.

Taglab may receive information made available to project operators by that service, such as your supporter name, contribution information or messages.

Making a contribution is optional and is separate from your use of Make Play. We do not require you to provide payment information to Taglab in order to use Make Play.

11. Open-source development platforms

Parts of Make Play are open source and may be published through services such as GitHub.

If you interact with a repository, submit an issue, contribute code or otherwise use such a platform, the platform operator processes information under its own terms and privacy policy.

Information intentionally submitted to a public open-source repository may be publicly visible.

12. Disclosure of information

Because Make Play does not normally transmit personal information about its users to Taglab, there is ordinarily no user database for us to disclose.

Where we do possess personal data, for example because you contacted us directly, we may disclose it only where reasonably necessary:

• ·to service providers acting on our behalf;
• ·to comply with a legal obligation;
• ·to respond to a lawful request from a competent authority;
• ·to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; or
• ·in connection with a corporate restructuring where permitted by law.

We do not sell personal data.

13. International transfers

Apple, TIDAL, GitHub, Patreon or other third-party services you choose to use may process information outside the European Economic Area.

Any such processing by those providers is governed by their own privacy policies and legal arrangements.

If Taglab itself transfers personal data outside the EEA, we will use a transfer mechanism required by applicable data-protection law.

14. Your rights

Where the GDPR or other applicable data-protection law applies, you may have rights including the right to:

• ·access your personal data;
• ·correct inaccurate personal data;
• ·request deletion of personal data;
• ·restrict certain processing;
• ·object to certain processing;
• ·receive portable data where applicable; and
• ·lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection authority.

Because Taglab does not maintain Make Play user accounts or a central user database, we may hold no personal data that can be associated with you solely as a result of your use of Make Play.

In Spain, you may also lodge a complaint with the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD).

15. Children

Make Play is not specifically directed at children and Taglab does not intentionally collect personal data from children through Make Play.

Use of Apple Music, TIDAL and other third-party services remains subject to the age requirements imposed by those providers.

16. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data that we actually hold.

No software or network system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Users are responsible for securing their own Make Play installation, computer, network and third-party service credentials.

17. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Make Play, third-party integrations or applicable law. The current version will identify its effective date.

If Make Play is changed in a way that materially alters how Taglab processes personal data, this policy will be updated accordingly.
